USCIS e-Verify Self Check now Available Nationwide
The USCIS has a self-check e-Verify site now available in both English and Spanish. The site allows individuals to verify their eligibility to work before applying for a position. Job hunters in every state across the country, as well as Washington, D.C., Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, will be able to use Self Check to confirm their employment eligibility status. More and more employers use E-Verify to confirm their new hires’ work eligibility. You can use Self Check to confirm your work eligibility, see if there are any discrepancies in your records, and learn how to fix them before searching for a job. Visa Applications Accepted Throughout India Regardless of Residence
Mission India moved to a single consular district for visa purposes. The U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and the Consulates General in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad will now accept visa applications from across India regardless of the applicant's city of residence.
USCIS issues Revised Employment Authorization Document(EAD)
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced that it has revised the Employment Authorization Document (EAD), or Form I-766, to incorporate the addition of a machine-readable zone on the back of the card. Additional information on the revised EAD can be found here.
Non-Immigrant Visa Application Fees to Increase June 4
The Department of State plans to increase Non-immigrant Visa application fees beginning June 4. Under the new schedule of fees, applicants for all visas that are not petition-based, including B1/B2 tourist and business visitor visas and all student and exchange visitor (F, M and J) visas, will pay a fee of $140. Applicants for petition-based visas will pay an application fee of $150. The USCIS has posted a press release with the details of the new fee structure for Non Immigrant Visa applications.
